These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Sentinel ("Sentinel", "the Service", "we", "us"), a Discord bot and web dashboard that provides member onboarding, support tickets, rank-up requests, leveling, team-finder, and automation tooling for Discord servers. Sentinel is operated by Joshua Rich ("we", "us").
By adding Sentinel to a Discord server, or by signing in to the Sentinel dashboard, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Sentinel.
Sentinel is a third-party application that connects to Discord's API. It is not made, endorsed, or supported by Discord Inc. Using Sentinel also means you are bound by Discord's own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
You must meet Discord's own minimum age requirement (13, or higher where required by local law) to use Discord, and by extension Sentinel. The dashboard is only accessible to users with the "Manage Server" permission (or Administrator) on a given Discord server.
Dashboard sign-in works through Discord OAuth. We never see or store your Discord password. Your access to a server's dashboard is entirely determined by your role/permissions on that Discord server, as reported by Discord at sign-in and re-checked on each session.
If you install and configure Sentinel on a Discord server, you are responsible for:
You agree not to use Sentinel to:
Sentinel has zero tolerance for cyberbullying, harassment, or intimidation carried out using the Service. This applies to members using Sentinel's features (e.g. tickets, team finder posts) and to staff using Sentinel's moderation and automation tools against members.
In Australia, using a "carriage service" (which includes the internet and services like Discord) to menace, harass, or offend another person is a criminal offence under section 474.17 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth), carrying penalties of up to several years' imprisonment. The Online Safety Act 2021 also gives the eSafety Commissioner power to order the removal of cyberbullying material targeting Australian children. Depending on where you live, similar criminal harassment/stalking laws and civil remedies (such as intervention or protection orders) may also apply.
A Discord server's own staff are responsible for moderating conduct on their server, including conduct involving Sentinel's ticket, application, and team finder features. We may suspend or terminate a server's access to Sentinel, or an individual user's dashboard access, if we reasonably believe Sentinel is being used to facilitate cyberbullying or harassment.
If you believe you are the target of cyberbullying or online harassment, we encourage you to keep evidence (e.g. screenshots), use Discord's own blocking/reporting tools, report it to your server's staff, and, for serious cases or where a child is involved, report it to the eSafety Commissioner or your local police. Nothing in this section is legal advice.
Some Sentinel features look up publicly available Old School RuneScape data from RuneWatch and Wise Old Man, by the in-game name (RSN) a member submits, when a server owner enables those checks. These are independent services we do not control, are not affiliated with, and are not responsible for.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information Sentinel collects and how it is used. It is part of these Terms.
Sentinel is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime, and we may add, change, or remove features, or suspend the Service entirely, at any time, with or without notice.
Sentinel is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (to the extent permitted by law) any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that Sentinel will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Sentinel, including actions taken by server staff using Sentinel's moderation or automation features (e.g. role changes, kicks, bans, timeouts, or message deletion configured by that server's own staff).
A server owner can remove Sentinel from their Discord server at any time. We may suspend or terminate Sentinel's access to a server, or a user's dashboard access, if we reasonably believe these Terms or applicable law have been violated.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use Sentinel after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to sentinelbot.uk@gmail.com.
